Its a special pleasure this week that Heads South has been asked to play for London’s XLP Charity in their Thankyou event to 100 Volunteers who mentor young people in deprived inner cities. Playing live for such a worthwhile cause, we are indeed fortunate.

On a different note ….next Sunday June 10th I’m much looking forward to playing Latin & Brazilian grooves in the Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells from 1pm in a great line-up featuring gifted singer Irene Serra, Adolfredo Pulido on bass and Tristan Banks drums,  for “Gin & Jazz” !

Great gig at St Martin in the Fields in Trafalgar Square last nite… Much looking forward to Lincolnshire Jazz Festival next week ! In advance of the festival BBC Radio Lincs has a feature : listen to interview with John  https://soundcloud.com/headssouth/bbc-r-lincs-jazzfestival-2018-heads-south

The score of the musical Hairspray teems with tricky rhythmic hits and innumerable key changes. Its full of fun ! Am having a blast playing it with 8pce band in a local theatre production

Sold Out : (but standing ok if gig outside weather permitting) Bank Holiday Sunday August 27, The Old Vine, Cousley Wood, Wadhurst near Tunbridge Wells 7pm : Brilliant vocalist Shireen Francis will be performing with me in a super Quartet , bringing her irresistible blend of swing, soul, jazz and blues.  “Quite simply one of the best British jazz vocalists of this generation” BBC Radio.  Starts 7pm, until 9,  preceded earlier in the afternoon with live music from local musicians. Sad news indeed that Hastings based singer Chris Hutchinson has passed away. Chris was a fine songsmith and performer, an artist of of true warmth. He will be greatly missed.
